Common questions
Do students pay a booking fee on top?
Yes - when a student pays by card, a small booking fee is added to their total on top of the lesson price. This does not come out of your earnings. You always receive the price you set for the lesson, minus the 15% platform fee.
How do card payments reach my bank?
When a student pays by card, the funds are transferred into your RoadLy balance and held until the lesson is complete. Once ready - typically around 24 hours after the lesson ends - you can request a withdrawal from your RoadLy dashboard. Stripe then deposits it to your linked bank account, usually within 2 business days.
What happens if a student cancels?
If a student cancels at least 48 hours before the lesson, they get a full refund. Cancel with less than 48 hours to go and no refund is issued - you keep the full lesson fee. The card booking fee is non-refundable on all student-initiated cancellations.
Can students pay with cash?
Yes - lots of instructors still work with cash and the platform is built around that. Cash lessons appear alongside card bookings in your history, and there's no fee on them.
Is there a contract or lock-in?
No. There's no contract, no lock-in, and no cancellation fee. If you decide to stop using RoadLy, you can export your data and close your account at any time.
