Your details and the RSA register

If you are an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and RoadLy has contacted you, this page explains what we hold about you, where it came from, why we have it and how to stop us using it. We did not get these details from you, so the law (Article 14 of the GDPR) says we must tell you all of this the first time we get in touch.

The short version: we copied your professional listing from the public RSA register so we could tell you about a booking tool built for instructors. One email from you and we stop.

Who we are

RoadLy is an Irish booking, scheduling and payments platform for Approved Driving Instructors. We are the data controller for the details described on this page. You can reach us at hello@roadly.ie.

Where your details came from

The Road Safety Authority's public register of Approved Driving Instructors, which is published on rsa.ie so that learner drivers can find an instructor. We take a copy of the register from time to time and keep it on our own systems. We do not buy lists and we do not add details from anywhere else.

What we hold

Only what the register publishes about you:

• Your name and ADI number
• The driving school or business name you are listed under, if any
• The email address, phone number, address and website on your listing, where the register shows them
• The counties you serve, the licence categories you teach and whether you are EDT approved
• The date your register record was created and the dates we saw it in each copy we took

Alongside that we keep our own notes about whether we have contacted you, when, and what you said, so that we do not contact you twice about the same thing.

Why we hold it

For one purpose: to let working driving instructors know that RoadLy exists and to invite them to try it. That means the occasional email about the product, and answering you if you reply. We also use the register to check that people who sign up as instructors really are on it.

Our legal basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): telling professionals, in their professional capacity, about a service built for their profession, using contact details they publish for professional use. We have weighed that against your interests, which is why we contact you rarely, by email rather than by phone, and stop the moment you ask.

We do not sell your details, share them with anyone else, or use them for anything other than what is described here.

How long we keep it

If we have not been in touch with you, or you have not replied, we delete your details twelve months after we took them from the register. If we have exchanged emails, we keep the conversation for as long as it stays relevant, and review it every twelve months.

If you ask us not to contact you, we keep only your name, ADI number and email address on a do-not-contact list, so that a later copy of the register cannot put you back on our outreach list by mistake. That entry is permanent.

Your rights

You can, at any time and free of charge:

• Object to us holding or using your details. We will stop and add you to the do-not-contact list.
• Ask for a copy of everything we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
• Ask us to delete your details.
• Ask us to stop using them while we look at a correction or an objection.

Email hello@roadly.ie, or reply to any email we have sent you, and we will act within a month. Every email we send from the register includes a way to opt out.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your details, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28.
